The Secret To Get Rid Of GROSS Cellulite

Is stubborn cellulite stopping you from wearing your favorite bikini? Learn how to get rid of cellulite while losing weight. Excess fat is the main cause of cellulite and this in depth guide will help you on your way to reducing cellulite today.

Have you ever wondered why it’s so difficult to get rid of cellulite? You’ve probably tried everything but still find yourself suffering from the unattractive, lumpy and dimpled skin cellulite leaves us with. It appears on your legs, butt, arms, tummy and a number of other parts of your body, gross!
If you’ve spent time researching ways to rid yourself from the so-called “orange peel” don’t worry, you’re definitely not the only one!

Many women, if not all, are just like you. In fact, 80 to 90 percent of all women are affected by cellulite. They’ve spent a lot of time, hard earned money and energy hoping to discover a miracle to cure this frustrating skin problem. Sadly more often than not they’re left with short term results or none at all.
There are a wide number of products and procedures on the market that promise a cellulite-free body. Magical thermo-activated creams that promise to rid you of the lumps and dimples for a hefty fee. Invasive laser therapy or dangerous fat removal surgeries that offer short term results and come with a number of serious risks. No thanks!

None of these have lasting results because they don’t address the main cause of cellulite – excess fat. Before you take another step further though, I suggest that you to read through this article and discover the real facts about why people have cellulite. If you follow the advice in this article I guarantee you’ll reduce your cellulite and possibly even rid yourself of it all together.

Almost Everybody Has It

If you think you are the only one with the dimples and bulges, think again. An article published in Medical News Today showed that around 80 to 90 percent of women suffer from cellulite. Men also suffer from cellulite but to a lesser degree due to lower body fat levels.
Most commonly, these lumps and dimples are found protruding on the arms, the belly, the buttocks and the thighs. However for some people cellulite gathers around less visible areas like the neck and the chest.

So now you know you’re not the only one suffering from cellulite. Even men get it, sometimes just as bad as women but due to today’s image standards it’s not as big a deal to them.

Where Does Cellulite Come From?

Cellulite occurs due to a disproportion in the connective tissues of the body due to excess body fat. When fat deposits push through the tissue underneath your skin, cellulite is formed. This creates the “orange peel” look on the surface of the skin where it is present. So, a higher body fat means more cellulite, which is why people diagnosed with obesity contain more severe amounts of cellulite on their bodies.

However, being overweight or obese is not the only reason for cellulite. Everyone, to a certain degree, will have cellulite on their bodies. Regardless of weight, body size and shape, nobody is exempt! It’s just more visible and severe when we have a higher percentage of fat in our bodies.

Genetics – A Factor But Not An Excuse

So your mom has a slow metabolism. Your dad can’t seem to trim down regardless of how much exercise he does. Your grandfather suffers from hypertension, and your grandma has hormonal imbalances.

All these health problems and disorders are known to cause cellulite. It may just be bad luck that your genes make you more prone to being affected by cellulite.
So some of us get pretty looks from our ancestors, and some of us get cellulite, awesome! But don’t worry, even if you drew the short straw and are more prone to cellulite there is still a lot you can do to reduce its appearance, so keep reading.

Medical Conditions Can Trigger Cellulite

Think about your state of health right now and be honest. If you aren’t in the best of shape, you are more prone to having cellulite. Although cellulite is not a form of disease, it is far more common if you’re overweight.
However, there are a number of illnesses that causes you to gain weight, which in turn give you cellulite. Hypothyroidism, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, Diabetes and Depression can all cause weight gain. Before you try other methods to remove the lumpy, dimpled skin be sure to check with your doctor that you aren’t suffering from one of these conditions.

Hormonal Imbalances Play A Role

Estrogen plays a big role in the changes and the shape of a woman’s body. It encourages the body to build up fat and store fat. Changes in the estrogen levels of the body can aggravate the growth of cellulite.
Cellulite is often worse during pregnancy and menopause, again because of weight gain. It’s also known that high levels of the insulin hormone can play a role in developing cellulite. Weight gain is the most common side effect of those who take insulin.

How Bad Is My Cellulite?

As mentioned earlier, there are a number of different levels of cellulite. So, ask yourself, “How severe is my cellulite?”
Like all of us, I’m sure you’ve spent a lot of time looking at the areas of your body affected by cellulite. There’s actually a severity scale that can be used to determine just how bad your cellulite is.
Level 1 –  To your eyes, you cannot see any visible signs of lumpy, dimpled skin at this level.
Level 2 – Cellulite is easily detected once the area is pinched. Your skin feels thick and tender around the area where you have it. Once you pinch your skin, you see lumps and dimples.
Level 3 – If you can see some lumps, bulges and dimples around your thighs, your buttocks and other parts of your body as you stand, then your cellulite level is already in level 3.
Level 4 – If you can see lumps, bulges and dimples in whatever position you are in, then you’ve reached the height of the cellulite levels.
Don’t worry, there’s work to be done!

Reduce Your Cellulite Today

Remember, they best and most effective way to reduce cellulite is to lose weight and overall body fat levels. By exercising and replacing the fat with added muscle you’ll only increase the amount of weight you lose and therefore reduce your cellulite even more.

Eat Well. Eat Healthy

Your choice of food is very beneficial to maintaining a healthy you. If you really want to eliminate the bulges, you’ve got to start eating the right kinds of food.
Cut off from your carbohydrate and sodium intake, these both make you bloated and leave your skin retaining more water. Carbohydrates, especially sugars are cellulite’s worst enemy.
Eat foods that are rich in Vitamin C. Vitamin C is important because it is necessary in the production of collagen and has a vital role in repairing red blood cells. Both of these will help to reduce cellulite.
Getting a good amount of green leafy vegetables in your diet is also great for cellulite. They’re rich in collagen and encourage healthy skin, as well as acting as a preventative measure of cellulite formation.

Exercise And Build Muscle

Adding some lean muscle to your body will have you burning more calories and reducing your body fat. Exercise combined with a healthy diet will be your two biggest weapons in the war against cellulite. Not only will you reduce the lumps and dimples, but your body will appear more toned and trim.
When you exercise you will improve your heart health, increasing the blood circulation throughout your body and skin. This will help to reduce and improve the appearance of your current cellulite as well as prevent future cellulite from forming.
The main benefit will come from the weight loss obtained by exercising and a reduction of your body fat level.

Remember To Massage

According to studies by the Journal of Cosmetic Science, a good way to relieve cellulite is to apply creams containing retinol and caffeine to the affected areas. Some tanning, firming and anti-aging lotions can also help cover up the bulges, but these usually only work short term.
While incorporating a healthy diet and exercise into your lifestyle you can massage areas affected by cellulite in a circular motion to aid in smoothing the skin.

Remember to set goals and reward yourself when you get the chance! Treat yourself by visiting a massage center and get a good full body massage, this will help smooth the skin and motivate you too.

So cut back the calories, get slim and stay satisfied by choosing from these healthy and high protein snacks!

Satisfy With A High Protein Hit

Snacks high in protein can help you lose weight and stick to a diet. Protein
releases energy slowly and will leave you feeling fuller for longer. As a super slow energy releaser, protein will help you stay satisfied, can fight off food cravings and keeps your blood sugar levels stable. Protein is also essential for healthy muscles and hair.
So with all the positives that protein provides, which snacks will you pack to keep satisfied? See our handy list of high protein foods to keep off the calories and prevent you from reaching for unhealthy snacks, such as crisps or chocolate.

1Go Nuts

Nuts are a great way to get some protein on the go. Whether it’s a peanut butter snack pack containing around 190 calories and 8 grams of protein (per 1.15 ounces), or a handful of your favorite nuts, which can be combined with dried fruit for extra flavor and fiber, nuts definitely pack in protein. Almonds are an awesome way to get extra protein into your diet and with 4 grams of protein for 14 almonds, at only 100 calories per serving, why not go nuts?

2Eat Some Meat

Meat contains high levels of protein, and by cutting up small cubes of chicken or steak you can create a handy protein snack. However, if you don’t want the fuss of cooking, jerky can provide an alternative option with 7 to 11 grams of protein per one ounce serving and only 70 to 90 calories.

3Take Some Tuna Or Turkey

Pouches of tuna contain 16 grams of protein and are an excellent way to get omega 3 into your diet, which is essential for your body to function. Turkey rolls can provide around 18 grams of protein and can be filled them with flavor and turned into a wrap by adding tomato and mustard. Alternatively, make your own version by adding your favorite veg. Cover your turkey wraps in film or take them in a tub so that they are ready to eat on the go, and at 75 calories per wrap, you can’t complain.

4Get Some Wholegrain

Whole grain bars are the latest trend and whether you take a bar with you or eat it for breakfast, they contain between 10 to 15 grams of protein. However, be careful to read the label first because some can come with a high sugar and fat content. Oatmeal can provide a healthier alternative and has around 4 grams of protein per packet. For those on the go, you can grab a pot of oatmeal from your local supermarket and take it for breakfast or lunch. Mix your oatmeal with milk, sprinkle on some almonds and you have a simple and tasty snack packed full of proteins.

5Squeeze In Some Cheese

Cottage cheese is low in fat and high in protein, with 20 grams and 110 calories per 5 ounce serving. This tasty cheese is great paired with tuna and spring onions or put on a celery stick for a snack with extra crunch. Mini cheeses are also a handy way to get some protein; they can easily be added into your bag, are available in different varieties and contain around 6 to 8 grams of protein.

6Do It With Dairy

Greek yogurt, kefir (a drinkable creamy yogurt) and low-fat chocolate milk are all packed full of proteins and will provide calcium to keep your teeth and bones healthy. Yes you heard correctly, low fat chocolate milk, which will not only provide you with enough protein to help you lose weight, but will also satisfy your taste buds, should you get a craving for chocolate. Low fat chocolate milk provides 9 grams of satisfying protein, whilst Greek yogurt can give you 12 to 30 grams a container. Kefir, which provides a great lactose free alternative, has 11 grams of protein per cup with three times as many probiotics than yogurt, so is also good for your gut.

7How About Hummus?

Chickpeas come with 7 grams of protein per a quarter cup serving and can be made into hummus by blending with oil and tahini. Other beans, lentils and peas will provide protein and can be mixed with vegetables and spices for a super tasty snack. However, if hummus isn’t for you why not cook some rice? As rice also contains protein, providing approximately 6 grams per 4.4 ounce cup.

12 Signs of Uncontrolled Diabetes

12 Signs of Uncontrolled Diabetes

Blood tests tell you and your doctor when your glucose levels are too high. But signs of uncontrolled diabetes can appear all over your body. High blood glucose can damage nerves, blood vessels, and organs, resulting in a wide array of symptoms. Talk with your doctor if you spot any of them, so you can stay in control of your diabetes and improve your quality of life.

 1. Your bowels and bladder don’t work properly.

Nerve damage can make it hard to tell when you need to use the bathroom, even when your bladder is full.As a result, you may develop frequent bladder infections. Constipation and diarrhea occur if nerves to the small intestine sustain damage. And your stomach may lose the ability to move food through your digestive system, causing vomiting and bloating.

2. You lose your hearing.

Sound travels a complex path from the outside world to your brain. Many small blood vessels and nerves in your ear play a role in transmission. High blood glucose can damage these vessels and nerves, making hearing loss twice as common in people with diabetes.

3. Your gums bleed.

Besides bleeding, you may notice your gums pull back and form pockets around your teeth. This is a sign of periodontitis, a severe form of gum disease. Without treatment, you may begin to lose teeth. And in a vicious cycle, gum infections can make blood glucose harder to control.

4. Your mouth is dry or sore.

High blood glucose robs your mouth of moisture. You may develop pain, sores, infections, and cavities as a result. Prevent oral problems linked to diabetes by brushing properly and visiting your dentist every six months. Also, quit smoking and clean dentures regularly, if you have them.

5. Your vision changes.

You may notice you have trouble reading, or you see rings around lights at nighttime. Fluctuations occur in how clearly you can see at near and distance. Your vision may blur, and dark spots or flashing lights may appear in your field of view. Also, it may take longer for your eyes to adjust when you move from dark places into bright light.

6. Your skin cracks, itches, or changes.

Your body retains less moisture when you have high blood glucose, leaving your skin dry and itchy. Cracks allow bacteria to penetrate the skin and cause infections that heal slowly. Other signs may erupt on your skin, including dark velvety patches, blisters, rashes, scales, or hard pea-sized lumps. Some areas may turn stiff, waxy, cool, or hairless.

7. Your hands and feet tingle or feel numb.

Nerve damage disrupts signals between your extremities and your brain. You may feel a pins-and-needles sensation, but not heat, cold, pain, or even pressure on your feet when walking. The muscles in your legs and feet may weaken, leaving you unsteady.

8. Or, your hands and feet frequently hurt.

In other cases, frayed nerves send scrambled messages, triggering sensations out of sync with external stimuli. Even a light blanket on your feet may cause you to ache, especially at night. Also, you may experience extreme hot or cold sensations, or feel like you’re wearing gloves and socks when you’re not.

9. Your legs cramp or ache.

Circulation problems can cause your calves, thighs, or buttocks to hurt when you’re walking or doing other physical activities. This pain may decrease with rest. Still, report it to your doctor. You may need to take extra steps to protect your blood vessels.

10. Sex becomes difficult.

Intimate parts of your body aren’t immune from nerve damage. Men may have trouble getting or maintaining an erection. Women may experience vaginal dryness or notice they don’t feel aroused or have orgasms as easily. However, these changes don’t diminish sexual desire.

11. You sweat differently.

Some diabetics sweat more frequently, especially at night or while they’re eating. Others stop sweating entirely, even in extreme heat. Check your feet—if the skin there is very dry, your sweat glands probably aren’t functioning properly.

12. You feel dizzy and lightheaded.

You may faint when you stand up too quickly. Your heart may beat too fast. If these symptoms develop suddenly or come with shortness of breath, chest pain, slurred speech, or vision loss, get help immediately. Blood flow to your heart or brain may have slowed or stopped.

Alternative approaches to reducing your blood pressure

Alternative approaches to  reducing your blood pressure

There are numerous complementary and alternative approaches to managing your blood pressure. Some have a strong body of evidence behind them and are well accepted by the medical community, whilst others are little more than old wives tales.
Complementary therapies are defined as those that are used alongside with conventional medical treatments, whilst alternative therapies are used instead of mainstream interventions.
There is little doubt that evidence-based complementary therapies can have a very positive effect in supporting mainstream interventions, as long as they are discussed with - and approved by - your doctor or specialist first.
Alternative therapies, as the sole treatment, carry with them a greater risk of not achieving good management of your blood pressure - or worse, allowing your blood pressure control to deteriorate further, so it's absolutely imperative that you discuss alternative therapies with your doctor or specialist first before you decide on this approach.
Complementary and alternative approaches to blood pressure management
Lifestyle
Regular, moderate-intensity exercise and a low-fat diet with plenty of fruit and vegetables will help you to maintain a healthy weight, which, in turn, will help to reduce your blood pressure.
Controlling your sodium intake is a key part of managing your blood pressure. Minimise your intake of high-sodium foods such as packeted and tinned soups, savoury snacks and crisps, cured meats, cheeses and breads - and certainly avoid as far as possible adding salt to your food, either during preparation or at the table. Seasoning with herbs and spices is a great alternative.
Minimising how much alcohol you drink will help to improve your blood pressure control and by avoiding all forms of tobacco you will significantly reduce damage to the walls of your arteries, which can lead to hardening and increased blood pressure.
Finally, keep calm and… manage the stresses in your life - this will reduce the frequency of transient increases in your blood pressure.
Herbal supplements
Herbs such as Stephania tetrandra (tetrandrine), Crataegus species (hawthorn), Panax notoginseng (ginseng) and Rauwolfia serpentina (snakeroot) are all purported to help reduce elevated blood pressure. However, the evidence base behind these herbal therapies is still relatively limited so a discussion with your GP or specialist is important, especially as they may interact with mainstream blood pressure medication.
Remember that certain herbs can actually increase blood pressure such as licorice, yohimbine and ephedra (Ma Huang), so if you're already taking these, you should consider stopping and you certainly shouldn't start taking them.
Nutritional supplements
A number of nutritional supplements have been shown to reduce blood pressure, although once again, the evidence is variable. One of the most substantiated supplements is coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), for which there is good evidence of significant blood pressure reductions as well as negligible side effects.
Magnesium and potassium supplementation has also been shown to help control blood pressure levels. Like CoQ10, evidence is strong for these nutrients and they are well worth considering. Other supplements include omega-3 fatty acids and the amino acids L-arginine and L-taurine - all of which have been shown to have moderate effects on blood pressure although the evidence is less consistent.
Acupuncture
Although a great deal of research has been carried out on the ability of acupuncture to reduce blood pressure, many of the studies have found to have significant weaknesses. However, the risks are minimal so whilst more good quality research is needed, it may well be worth giving acupuncture a try.
Remember - consultation with your doctor or specialist is imperative. They will not only be able to advise you on how safe and effective the therapies you're considering are, but also ensure that they are right for you and integrate effectively with any medical treatment you may be receiving.

HOW TO HEAL DAMAGED LIVER NATURALLY WITHIN A MONTH

The function of the liver has always been to filter out toxins and eliminate them from the body. Nevertheless, its job has changed over time, and now, it has a much bigger task now than it was even just a century ago.

Our bodies are exposed to a lot of toxins on a daily basis, so the liver has to work in overdrive to keep up. Modern living includes fried foods, food treated with pesticides, toxins in the air you breathe, and all this should be almost everything has to be filtered through your liver. Over time, this can lead to liver damage.

Liver Damage: Causes and Symptoms

There are many common causes for liver damage. Initially, liver disease can be genetic, so you may want to watch for its symptoms if anyone in your family has ever had liver problems.

Also, excessive alcohol consumption may be the most common cause of liver damage, as alcohol has many toxins that must be filtered through the liver.

Moreover, liver damage can also result from an unhealthy diet. An excess of fatty, fried, or processed foods puts a huge toll on your liver. You may be at high risk if your diet is devoid of fruits and vegetables.

Liver damage is often accompanied by certain symptoms. If case you have any of the ones below, you may be dealing with an off-kilter liver:
  • Whites of eyes are yellow or bloodshot
  • Stomach upset or digestive issues
  • Stool or urine consistently abnormal (color, size, timing)
  • Skin has yellowed over time and does not seem to improve with changes in diet or habits
  • Development of mononucleosis

In order to determine whether or not your liver enzymes are normal, you can do a simple liver enzyme test administered by your health care provider.

Natural Treatments Over Conventional Treatments

Your body can be seriously damaged by conventional treatments, since a liver transplant can take years to get, the costs are too expensive, and leave you reliant on immunosuppressant medications. In addition, you must heal from major surgery after getting a transplant.

On the other hand, natural treatments can get you the same benefits as conventional treatments, but without the side effects. Though this protocol can be time-consuming, it can be worth it if you want to strengthen your liver naturally.

That is why it is highly advisable that you try these natural ways to cure liver damage:

Clean Water

For the process of liver cleansing, flushing your body is a huge part and has huge importance, so aim for at least four liters of water each day.

Herbal Supplements

Liver health can be strengthened to a high extent by the consumption of herbal supplements that are specifically designed for liver damage issues.

Cranberry Juice

Cranberry juice is excellent for your organs, and it can help detox your liver, but take care not to consume one with added sugar in its content.

Fresh Squeezed Juice

Investing in a juicer as well as organic fruits and vegetables can save your health. Try different juicing recipes and drink plenty of fresh juice every day, in order to help your body flush out all toxins.

Oregano Oil

This oil can provide great benefits to you, and some aroma therapists recommend its use internally, while others recommend its topical use. However, what is really important is that oregano oil can help you get rid of infections that have taken root in your body as a result of liver failure.

9 HOME REMEDIES FOR COLD FEET

Cold feet can be quite a common problem in people with poor blood circulation. Physiologically, your feet get cold when inadequate oxygen and blood supply reach the legs due to poor blood circulation. When the circulation improves, the problem goes away.

However, persistent cold extremities can also be a symptom of other health problems, such as anemia, chronic fatigue syndrome, restless legs syndrome, peripheral neuropathy or nerve damage, peripheral vascular disease, diabetes, hypothyroidism, Raynaud’s disease and hypothermia.

Nutritional deficiencies, alcohol abuse and excessive smoking are also contributing factors in cold feet.

If cold feet are accompanied by additional symptoms like changes in skin color, numbness or tingling sensations, open sores or blisters, and tightened or hardened skin, seek medical attention immediately.

As the reasons for cold feet differ from person to person, consult a doctor for proper diagnosis if you have this problem frequently. In the meantime, you can try some simple and effective home remedies for relief.

1. Warm Oil Massage

Massaging your feet is a simple and therapeutic way to restore warmth. It stimulates blood flow to your extremities. Plus, regular foot massage will help keep your feet healthy and free from many kinds of foot problems.
Warm some olive, coconut or sesame oil in the microwave for a few seconds.
Apply this warm oil on one of your cold feet.
Use gentle but firm pressure with your fingers to massage from toe to ankle for 10 minutes.
Repeat with the other foot.
After the massage, put on cotton socks.
Do this daily before going to bed and, if needed, once again during the day.

2. Hydrotherapy

Hydrotherapy is one of the simplest options that you can try at home to restore warmth to your feet. Hydrotherapy utilizes both cold and warm water soaks. The warm water soak helps improve circulation, while the cold water soak helps reduce symptoms.
Fill 2 foot basins – one with cold water and the other with warm water.
Sit in a comfortable position, and soak your feet in cold water for 2 minutes.
Then, switch to the warm water basin for 1 minute.
Continue alternating between the two basins for 15 to 20 minutes.
Pat dry immediately and put on warm socks.
Repeat a few times daily until you get relief.

Note: You can mix a few drops of ginger, rosemary, peppermint or cypress essential oil in the water.

3. Foot Exercises

Exercising your feet is essential to keep the blood flowing continuously and keep your feet warm. Foot exercises also help strengthen blood vessels.
Stand up straight on the tips of your toes for 1 minute, then slowly come down on your heels. Repeat the procedure for 10 minutes.
While seated, rotate each foot clockwise and then counter-clockwise at the ankle joint 10 to 20 times.
Walk alternately on your toes and then your heels for 10 to 15 minutes.
Use your toes to pick up a piece of cloth or some other object from the floor several times.

Perform any of these exercises to restore warmth when you feel your feet getting cold.

4. Epsom Salt

Another simple way to make your feet warm is an Epsom salt soak. The heat of the warm water will have a warming effect, while the magnesium sulfate present in Epsom salt will provide magnesium to the body. Magnesium deficiency is one of the causes of cold feet as well as hands.
Mix ½ cup of Epsom salt in a small tub filled with warm water.
Stir until the salt is dissolved.
Soak your feet in it for 15 to 20 minutes.
Repeat this remedy twice a week.

5. Ginger

Ginger promotes blood circulation and can help combat cold extremities. It contains compounds like gingerols and zingerone that have a warming effect on the body. Plus, it can reduce the risk of blood clots.
Simmer 1 tablespoon of sliced ginger in 2 cups of water for 10 minutes. Strain, add a little raw honey and drink it 2 or 3 times a day.
Boil a pot of water with a handful of ginger slices. Allow it to cool, then soak your feet in this solution for 15 minutes, twice daily.
Another option is to take ginger supplements, after consulting your doctor.

6. Green Tea

Green tea is considered a valuable natural cure for cold feet. Drinking green tea improves the functioning of the vessels that carry blood through the body, including your feet.
Drink 2 to 3 cups of green tea throughout the day. To make green tea, add 1 teaspoon of green tea leaves to a cup of hot water, cover and steep for 5 minutes. Strain, sweeten with honey and drink it.
You can also steep 3 or 4 green tea bags in a large pot of hot water for 10 minutes. Remove the tea bags and soak your feet in it for 10 minutes. Repeat twice daily.

7. Cayenne Pepper

Cayenne pepper contains a compound called capsaicin that helps improve blood flow throughout the body, including your feet. It will help keep your feet warm and provide relief from symptoms like swelling and tingling sensations in the legs.
Evenly spread 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper in a pair of thick socks. Put on a thin pair of socks, then put the thick socks sprinkled with cayenne pepper over them.
You can also massage the soles of your feet with an over-the-counter cream containing capsaicin.
Another option is to take a supplement, after consulting your doctor.

8. Walk on Grass

Walking barefoot on grass early in the morning is one of the best ways to boost circulation in your feet. This simple exercise is very good for treating cold feet. Moreover, walking strengthens and stretches the muscles, tendons and ligaments in your feet, ankles and calves.

Plus, when you walk barefoot on grass in the early morning sun, your body produces vitamin D. Having low vitamin D increases the likelihood of becoming anemic and having cold hands and feet.

Start your day walking barefoot on grass for 30 minutes to enjoy good circulation and overall health.

9. Increase Iron Intake

Those suffering from iron-deficiency anemia often have cold hands and feet. This happens because blood with a low hemoglobin level can’t deliver a proper oxygen supply to various organs and tissues.

Women between the ages of 19 and 50 need 18 mg of iron daily, while men in the same age category need 8 mg daily.
To fight iron deficiency, eat iron-rich foods like dates, apples, lentils, liver, red meat, spinach, soybean flour, tofu, almonds, dried apricots, olives, fortified breakfast cereals, watercress, oysters and asparagus.
You can opt to take an iron supplement, after consulting your doctor for the proper dosage. High doses of iron can be harmful to your body.

10. Eat Magnesium-Rich Foods

Magnesium is another nutrient required for good circulation and absorption of vitamin D. Without enough magnesium, you are more likely to suffer from cold feet as well as hands.

The body cannot store magnesium for very long, so it is essential to include magnesium-rich foods regularly in your diet.

Adult women need up to 300 mg of magnesium daily, and men require up to 400 mg daily.

Some good sources of magnesium-rich foods are spinach, Swiss chard, turnips, mustard greens, broccoli, seaweed, avocados, cucumbers, green beans, baked potatoes, whole grains, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds and almonds.
You can opt to take supplements, after consulting your doctor.

OUR TIPS TO PREVENT POOR HEALTH IN OLD AGE

FIVE FITNESS TIPS THAT COULD PREVENT POOR HEALTH IN OLD AGE

1. Walk around more

It’s arguably better than running. It’s low-stress, low-impact, easy to incorporate into your daily routine, and studies have linked it to everything from improved heart health to a decreased risk of stroke. Those advice columns suggesting getting off the bus/Tube early might seem ridiculous – why would you intentionallymake your commute longer? – but even a little bit helps. 10,000 steps a day – often suggested as the critical point for serious health change – is a bit more than two miles. Figure out a way to get there.

2. Do the ‘Batwing’

Years of hunching forward – whether over your laptop, phone or desk – are tightening your muscles and giving you an old-man hunch. Fix it with an exercise you can do in the time it takes to boil a kettle: without getting sweaty or crawling on the floor. To do the Batwing, stand a foot or so from a wall and lean back against it. Press your elbows into the wall and bring your thumbs to your armpits. Hold for 10 seconds, relax and repeat. Get into the habit to fix your scapula and redress some of the damage.

3. Build some strength

Running isn’t enough: there’s good evidence that resistance exercise – thestrength-building sort – will strengthen bones, reduce the risk of osteoperosis in and even lessen your chances of getting dementia. This doesn’t mean you have to join a gym: press-ups and pull-ups (get a bar for your house) are a good start, and you can do them while you watch TV or wait for a bath to run. Multiple, short sets are one option – try a few reps on the minute, every minute, for 10 minutes – or, if time’s a factor, one set to failure before your morning shower’s better than nothing.

4. Stand up four times an hour

You’ve heard the muttering about chairs: they constrict circulation, cause tightening of the muscles, send your glutes to sleep – but if you’re not at the sort of progressive company that encourages walk-along meetings and standing desks, what’s to be done? The simplest fix is to stand up occasionally: just getting to your feet for a second, bracing your abs and sitting back down is enough to undo some of the damage. Try to do it every 15 minutes.

5. Do ‘loaded carries’

Your workout secret weapon. Moves like the farmer’s walk, fireman’s carry or just wandering around with a heavy backpack on are arguably better than a bench-press session: they’ll activate more muscles, force your lower back to work, and improve your grip (a key indicator of health in later life). Find a way to incorporate them into your life: whether that’s a big shop a couple of times a week, helping friends move house, or taking more stuff to walk than you strictly need. Remember: your weekly Ocado delivery is killing you.
